The White House and State Department have clearly stated that they hold Assad, the dictator of Syria, responsible for the chemical attack in Damascus on “his own people.” People may think this means that Assad ordered the attack or gave his underlings authority to make such an attack. If so, people are wrong:
“Over the past six months, with shifting front lines in the 2½-year-old civil war and sketchy satellite and human intelligence coming out of Syria, U.S. and allied spies have lost track of who controls some of the country’s chemical weapons supplies… So while Secretary of State John Kerry said Monday that links between the attack and the Assad government are ‘undeniable,’ U.S. intelligence officials are not so certain that the suspected chemical attack was carried out on Assad’s orders, or even completely sure it was carried out by government forces, the officials said.”
Notice the casual admission here that US covert and overt policy has probably armed Al Qaeda terrorists with chemical weapons of mass destruction. Oops.
The fact is that the administration’s “smoking gun” is nothing of the kind (but to see that you need to ignore the headline and read the content). The intercepted calls arguably indicate Assad did not order any attacks.
If you doubt me, then listen to the Fed’s mouthpiece:
“On Wednesday, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said it didn’t really matter whether the administration knew those details with total certainty. ‘We ultimately, of course, hold President Assad responsible for the use of chemical weapons by his regime against his own people, regardless of where the command and control lies,’ Harf said.”
Right, Marie, of course you do.
Because that is exactly the kind of moral responsibility and accountability this Administration has shown in the case of the Federal government “walking” thousands of deadly weapons across the southern border into the hands of Mexican narco-gangsters. Right?
Thanks go to my friend Bob Allen for making several quotations, using Harf’s words, which show the insane double standard. Try these:
- “We ultimately, of course, hold President Obama responsible for the distribution of weapons to Mexican drug cartels by his regime, that have killed countless innocents, regardless of where the command and control lies,” Harf said.
- “We ultimately, of course, hold President Obama responsible for the use of the IRS as a weapon against political opponents by his regime, regardless of where the command and control lies,” Harf said.
- “We ultimately, of course, hold President Obama responsible for the use of the Justice Department as a weapon against a Free Press by his regime, regardless of where the command and control lies,” Harf said.
Of course there is a big difference. Holding Obama responsible would mean putting him and him alone on trial. Instead, we are going to hold Assad responsible for killing Syrians by using Weapons of Mass Destruction to kill more Syrians.
Try to guess: How many minutes into our cruise missile hits before we will have killed more Syrian civilians than died in that chemical attack? I would be shocked if it took more than three hours.
Human sacrifices to Emperor Obama’s moral authority.
