A cafe is crowing about its new politically correct Christmas cookies saying that gingerbread man cookies are out and instead they are selling a “gender-neutral” gingerbread “person” cookie.
The Tannery cafe in New Zealand has put an end to its venerable gingerbread man and has substituted a more PC version of its cookie, according to the New York Post.
The Auckland, New Zealand, cafe is selling the PC holiday cookies for $2.50 each.
The owner of the cafe, Andre Cettina, said that the idea was actually sparked by a customer who wondered why the cookies were called “gingerbread men” instead of “gingerbread people”?
Cettina added that he made the change in October on a lark, but so many people liked the idea he decided to make it official.
“It was completely tongue-in-cheek at the start,” Cettina fold the media. “But it’s become a really good conversation piece in the cafe.”
Of course, the cookies don’t look much different than before, mostly is it just the label on the jar:

The cafe announced the move on its Facebook page with a photo of the cookies and a caption reading, “A little something for everyone.”

While he has gotten a lot of support for the cookie, Cettina said some people don’t get it.
“We’ve had a lot of people commenting saying ‘stop being so pedantic, it’s just a biscuit’,” Cettina said. “I had to reply to them going, ‘Did you miss the whole point?'”
