A Republican Group DID NOT Fund the Fake Steele ‘Trump Dossier’ – The Media is Lying

We continue to see this lie in the media that some shadowy conservative group funded the lie-filled and wholly invented Steele Dossier that was used as a basis to spy on Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. But this claim is simply not true.

With the grilling of Attorney General William Barr going on today, some in the media have once again dredged up the lie that the Steele Dossier was initially funded by a Republican group before it was taken over by the Hillary Clinton campaign.

But it’s just not true.

The lie that the Washington Free Beacon funded the Dossier in its early stages is a lie.

As a reminder, the Steele Dossier was invented out of whole cloth by former British spy Christopher Steele and was paid for by Hillary Clinton, then forwarded to traitorous (and now thankfully off the scene) “Republican” Sen. John McCain before he handed it over to Obama’s corrupt FBI which then used the lie-filled, fake report as a basis to start spying on Donald Trump’s campaign.

Leftists have claimed that the Dossier got its start as opposition research in favor of Jeb Bush and was funded by conservative media organization the Washington Free Beacon. But, again, this really isn’t true.

As Becket Adams of the Washington Examiner reports, “the Free Beacon had nothing to do with Steele or his work on the dossier.”

“The Free Beacon had no knowledge of or connection to the Steele dossier, did not pay for the dossier, and never had contact with, knowledge of, or provided payment for any work performed by Christopher Steele,” the group’s top brass said in a statement. “Nor did we have any knowledge of the relationship between Fusion GPS and the Democratic National Committee, Perkins Coie, and the Clinton campaign.”

For some reason, though, media keep claiming incorrectly that the Free Beacon (“Republicans”) initially funded the Russia file.

Adams went on to point out several instances where the media lied and said that WFB funded the Stele Dossier.

He concludes saying:

Once more, for good measure: The Free Beacon didn’t initially fund the Steele dossier. They had nothing to do with the former spy’s work. Steel was funded 100 percent by Democratic operatives.

So, if you have been misled by the media about this thing, stop saying it.
