Democrats, who continue to pass laws making killing unborn babies a fundamental right love to quote the Bible. Nancy Pelosi, a big supporter of abortion on demand, and a Catholic like Gov. Andrew Cuomo, believes she and the Democrats “are doing God’s work.”
Hillary Clinton, who claims to be a Christian, declared that “’deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs, and structural biases have to be changed’ in order to make way for abortion and other forms of ‘reproductive health care.’”
She celebrated along with Gov. Cuomo in a New York state law that allows for the killing on an unborn baby up until birth and removed the penalty if a woman’s baby is killed during the act of a crime.
Al Gore, the Pied Piper of Climate Change, tried to get in the religious act by referencing the Bible:
Latest: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Believes the Bible … Sort Of

Every night on the television news is like a nature hike through the Book of Revelations.
There is no Book of Revelations. It’s “the book of the Revelation [singular] of Jesus Christ” (1:1). He went on to claim that the fires in California were the result of “climate change.” Actually, the fires were the result of equipment failure of Pacific Gas & Light and poor forestry management.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who said “the country should leave the fate of the planet in ‘the hands of something and someone much more powerful than any of us,’” got in a spat with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Here is how the NY congresswoman responded via Twitter:
Genesis 1: God looked on the world & called it good not once, not twice, but seven times. Genesis 2: God commands all people to “serve and protect” creation. Leviticus: God mandates that not only the people, but the land that sustains them, shall be respected.
Does AOC believe that God created the world? I suspect that most of her devoted followers would not agree with her. Nearly every university in America would put her in the flat-earth category for believing that (1) there is a God and (2) that He created anything.
A belief in the creation account, since she references Genesis 1 and 2, would mean that she denies evolution.
She has a large LGBTQ+ following. But Genesis 1 and 2 (and quoted by Jesus in Matt. 19:1-5) states unequivocally that God created “male and female.” This means there are only two sexes, not multiple genders.
God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them (Gen. 1:27).
What about her statement that “God commands all people to ‘serve and protect’ creation”? The Bible does say that “the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it” (2:15). The Hebrew word שָׁמַר means to “keep, watch, preserve” but never venerate or worship. The following states that the creation is to serve man since he is its ruler:
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to everything that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so (1:26-30).
I’m not sure what she means by “serve” creation, but “protect” is not a bad translation. By “serve” she may mean something akin to “nature worship,” a pagan religious movement going back centuries. There are those who have deified nature. Paul writes, “For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” (Rom 1:25) It’s obvious that “nature worship” is not taking place in the early chapters of Genesis. The sun, moon, stars, and planets (and that includes Earth) are never to be served or worshipped (Jer. 10; Deut. 4:14-19; Isa. 47:11-15).
How does that fit into her biblical theology? She has to admit that God created the world, created male and female with the capacity to reproduce, and laid before the sons and daughters of Adam a fruitful creation. At the same time, there is an ethical aspect to this dominion. We are to be stewards of God’s good creation, “to cultivate it and keep it.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is trying to build a case for government management of our lives through her Green Energy program. It’s all tied into the claim that man-made climate change is doing irreparable harm to the environment. It was not too long ago that Global Warming was the culprit. When the science was sketchy in proving the claim, the narrative changed to Climate Change. The climate is always changing; it’s been changing for thousands of years, and it has little to do with human activity.
AOC mentions the book of Leviticus: “God mandates that not only the people, but the land that sustains them, shall be respected.”
I’m not sure what particular verse or verses she has in mind. Leviticus does mention a great deal about letting the people and land rest. Is this what she’s calling for?:
The Lord then spoke to Moses at Mount Sinai, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When you come into the land which I shall give you, then the land shall have a sabbath to the Lord. Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its crop, but during the seventh year the land shall have a sabbath rest, a sabbath to the Lord; you shall not sow your field nor prune your vineyard. Your harvest’s aftergrowth you shall not reap, and your grapes of untrimmed vines you shall not gather; the land shall have a sabbatical year’” (Lev. 25:1-5).
Chick-fil-A does the one-day-in-seven principle, and Democrats hate the popular restaurant chain.
I would add:
- “You shouldn’t need a Bible to tell you that there are only two sexes, but it does anyway.”
- “You shouldn’t need a Bible to tell you to protect unborn babies, but it does anyway.”
- “You shouldn’t need a Bible to tell you wealth confiscation is immoral, but it does anyway.”
I’m glad AOC is appealing to the Bible. If she were only more consistent and believed it.
