Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Now Says She Was ‘Just Joking’ About ’12 Years to Fix Global Warming’ Claim

The Democrat Party’s It Girl, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has suddenly reversed course and now claims she was “just joking” when she said that we only have 12 years to fix global warming.

Ocasio-Cortez has made the outlandish proclamation many times at various venues, but now she says it was only “dry humor” and she is scolding “GOP fact-checkers” for daring to take her seriously.

On May 12, AOC jumped to her Twitter account with the following message:

Trending: Did Paul Harvey’s 1965 Broadcast “If I Were the Devil” Predict America’s Downfall?

This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and “fact check” it.

Like the “world ending in 12 years” thing, you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it’s literal.

But the GOP is basically Dwight from The Office so who knows.

Well, it seems pretty obvious that AOC’s entire political career is satire, so…

But, seriously… AOC has issued this “12 years” warning time and again to anyone who will listen.

As the Washington Free Beacon noted:

Over the course of the last few months, Ocasio-Cortez has insisted that members of Congress and Americans need to act swiftly in combating climate change. Back in January, Ocasio-Cortez participated in a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, where she issued a warning about fighting climate change.

“Millennials and people, you know, Gen Z and all these folks that will come after us are looking up and we’re like: The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?” Ocasio-Cortez said. “This is the war — this is our World War II.”

After she initially made the claim about the world ending in 12 years, she pushed back against Republicans on Twitter by saying it wasn’t a gaffe, but a “generational difference.”

She has also addressed this claim during one of her Instagram live streams. Last month, a random person appeared to be mocking her claim about the world ending in 12 years and asking her when the world ends, prompting her to become visibly annoyed.

“We have twelve years left to cut emissions by at least 50 percent if not more,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “For everyone who wants to make a joke about that, you may laugh, but your grandkids will not, so understand that the internet documents everything.”

AOC has made this “12 years” claim time and again in multiple tweets and at multiple personal appearances.

Now she was “just joking” the whole time?
