America Poorest Since 1965; Foreign Leaders See U.S. ‘In Decline’

He promised change, and change he has brought.

A new report by the Associated Press that interviewed economists, academics and think tanks both liberal and conservative has found a consensus that America under King Obama is on track to reach levels of poverty not seen in 47 years.

Meanwhile, the devastation wrought by Obama is being noted overseas. Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr met with Mitt Romney on Sunday and warned Romney that foreign leaders see  “America in decline.”

The AP report predicts that the poverty rate will rise from 15.1 percent in 2010 to as high as 15.7 percent when Census data is released in mid-September.

Tom Blumer of NewsBusters wrote that he suspects the AP report is being released now in order to blunt the impact of the Census data in the final weeks before the election.

The AP also found that poverty levels would likely remain high at least through 2014, and even though unemployment reportedly improved in 2011, the numbers were skewed because so many people have given up hope of finding a job and dropped out of the labor force. (Conservative media have noted all this for some time and AP’s just now catching up — but better late than never, I suppose.)

In their meeting, Australia’s Carr told Romney that it’s important for America to get its financial house in order. “One budget deal” that helped balance the budget would go a long way toward boosting the image of the U.S., Carr said.

The meeting, which was requested by Carr, is significant for Obama because restoring America’s “image” was one of his key planks that he ran on in 2008.

Since taking office, King Obama has done the opposite and turned America’s image into that of a milquetoast laughingstock that coddles tyrants and works hand in hand with terrorists.

In the minds of Obama and his supporters, that means the president has done his job.

Back in January, Obama said, “What we were also able to do, I think, is to restore a sense of America as the sole, indispensable power, a country that, whether it’s responding to an earthquake or a tsunami, or it’s dealing with a dictator that is about to ruthlessly butcher his people, we aren’t out there alone.”

Obama isn’t alone, sadly — there are plenty of delusional liberals living in that dream world, too.

In reality, America’s image has gone down the tubes in the last three years because the rest of the world has also heard our president say things like:

  • “In America, there’s a failure to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world.”
  • “We need to internalize this idea of excellence. Not many folks spend a lot of time trying to be excellent.”
  • “The United States will be willing to acknowledge past errors where those errors have been made.”
  • “My job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy. We sometimes make mistakes. We have not been perfect.”
  • “America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles – principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.”

The reality is setting in with the media and even some liberals. While the Obamanoids will continue to bend facts and twist truth, more and more, people are waking up to the disaster that is the Obama Administration.
