Police now say a black student at the University of La Verne in southern California who claimed to have been attacked by “racists” lied about the incident.
Last year, Anayeli DominguezPena, claimed that she was attacked by racists on campus. The so-called attack caused the school to shut down classes for a while day to “reset” to deal with the “racism” on campus.
DominguezPena also claimed to find a smoking backpack inside her car, which made police shut the school down for a day.
But after an investigation, police now say that DominguezPena lied about the whole thing.
The investigation was troubling at first. Police found nine threats of violence delivered vial emails and texts, most aimed at DominguezPena.
These threatening messages used the logo of a fraternity on campus as well as its president. However, investigators could not find any proof that anyone from the frat was involved in the messages.
On the other hand, they did find proof that DominguezPena was the one sending the hateful messages.
“I think she was trying to instigate some racial issues within the university,” La Verne Police Chief Nick Paz told the Daily Bulletin. “She was sending messages to certain people, and the comments that were being sent were of a racial nature.”
Instead of finding herself the object of sympathy for the “racist attacks,” now DominguezPena is under arrest for faking hate crimes.
DominguezPena was charged with criminal threats, a felony; internet/electronic impersonation, a misdemeanor, and six misdemeanor counts of filing false police reports.
Once again, we find that a “hate crime by racists is all a lie.
