Republicans Physically Assaulted in MN, Blame for Maxine Waters, Hillary, Holder

Two Republican candidates in Minnesota were physically assaulted in the last week in attacks that at least one of the candidates says were spurred by the dangerous rhetoric of Democrats like Maxine Waters, Hillary Clinton, and Eric Holder.

For the better part of a year, now, Congresswoman Maxine Waters has been urging acolytes to attack Republicans in public spaces such as restaurants. And only just recently Waters’ dangerous rhetoric was echoed by 2016 loser Hillary Clinton and former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder.

Now, Minnesota GOP candidate Shane Mekeland says that this violent, hateful rhetoric spurred one unhinged Democrat to physically assault him and give him a concussion during an assault at a public restaurant in St. George Township, a western suburb of St. Cloud, just north of Minneapolis.

“While I had never met my assailant, the words he yelled at me before he attacked lead me to believe his actions were politically motivated,” Mr. Mekeland, who is running for the House in District 15B, wrote in a Facebook post Sunday. “When I chose to run for office, I expected to be politically attacked, but never physically. I weighed whether or not to share this today, but ultimately I think we all need a reminder to be civil to each other regardless of our perspectives.”

In response to one sympathetic commenter, Mr. Mekeland wrote Monday, “Left, right or in between, civil discourse is needed. The media and the likes of Maxine Waters, Hillary [Clinton], and Eric Holder as of late is driving this behavior. As far as resolve, this is exactly the type of thing that will push me, you and other like minded people to fight harder.”

Mr. Mekeland told the Star Tribune that the man said something about “politicians not caring about the middle class,” but not anything that seemed overtly conservative or liberal before the alleged attack.

“It was a typical politically charged statement — not necessarily one way or the other, just a statement in general,” he said.

Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck confirmed that the alleged assault was being investigated. He told the Star Tribune on Monday that he expected the investigation to continue at least another week before referring to the Benton County Attorney’s Office for review.

Mekeland was not alone. State Representative Sarah Anderson of Plymouth also noted that she was attacked by an enraged, eft-wing Democrat.

“The idea that they will physically attack me, that is un-Minnesotan, that is not how we operate, and that’s not how we solve problems in the state,” Anderson said.

Indeed, it isn’t just unhinged voters that Republicans face in Minnesota. Also this week a Minnesota Democrat official was suspended for writing a social media post saying that Republicans should face the “guillotines.”

But it isn’t just Minnesota. Democrats all across the nation have become so filled with hate that they have become dangerous.

Only last week Holder was heard telling fans to “kick Republicans.” And Hillary claimed that Democrats can’t even be civil to opponents unless her party wins power.

Holder’s comments were a riff off former First Lady Michelle Obama’s comments that Democrats should take the high road in political debate. But, Holder disagreed.

“No, no,” Holder said on October 10. “When they go low, we kick ’em. That’s what this new Democratic Party is about.”

Only the day before, Hillary also chimed in to tell Democrats not to be civil to opponents.

“You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about,” Clinton told CNN on October 9. “That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again. But until then, the only thing that the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength.”

The outbursts come after nearly a year of Maxine Waters’ attacks on Republicans.

Waters has repeatedly told followers to harass Republicans anywhere they are seen, even if it is in private life at places such as restaurants.

It is all of a piece of the systematic attempt by the left to destroy our national comity and set Americans one against the other. The left’s goal is no less than the utter destruction of the “united” part of the United States of America so that their agenda can be enacted by hook or crook.

As Clinton admitted, that silly notion of “democracy” is something that liberals want castrated and forced to serve a left-wing agenda.

There have been all too many examples of Democrats attacking GOP opponents. But the worst example of Democrat violence occurred in 2017 when Bernie Sanders operative James T. Hodgkinson attempted to assassinate Republicans at a Virginia baseball park.

There is one universal truth in all this: leftism creates evil people.
