AOC rages at Pelosi, calls lack of impeachment a ‘scandal’

Freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is furious, again, and her latest outrage is being directed at one of her favorite targets:  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The two have long quarreled with one another over the prospect of impeaching President Trump for any one of the numerous misgivings that the Commander in Chief has allegedly committed.  Pelosi has been able to fend off the precocious progressive easily in the past, figuratively swiping her away like an annoying insect.

Now, however, AOC is taking her complaints to Twitter, and alleging that Pelosi herself is involved in a  “scandal” due to her reluctance to act.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., added further fuel to the impeachment fire in a Saturday evening tweet where she said the even bigger scandal than the controversy over Biden, Ukraine, and the Trump-Congress whistleblower fight was House Democrats’ refusal to impeach Trump.

“At this point, the bigger national scandal isn’t the president’s lawbreaking behavior – it is the Democratic Party’s refusal to impeach him for it,” she wrote.

Although House Speaker Nancy Pelosi still opposes impeachment, it appears that the controversy is starting to shift the calculus for some Democrats.

AOC wasn’t the only one, either.

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, said in a Sunday morning television interview, “we very well may have crossed the Rubicon here.”

Pelosi has insisted that a failed impeachment, which is likely due to the Senate’s republican majority, would give the President a distinct advantage during the 2020 election – something that the House Speaker seems unwilling to risk at this juncture.
