AOC Stumped When Confronted On Studies Showing Defunding Police Leads To More Crime

Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) was stumped and deflected questions from host George Stephanopoulos when she was confronted with studies showing that defunding the police leads to more crime when the congresswoman appeared on Good Morning America.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said funding should be taken away from law enforcement to pay for health care and housing in order to prevent crime in the first place.

She also stumbled when asked if the slogan ‘defund the police’ distracts from the overarching argument. This all follows statements she made on Twitter Tuesday, where she accused lawmakers of trying to make criminal justice reform “more palatable among affluent swing voters.”
