AP Claims O’Rourke Spoke At Campaign Rally In “His Native Spanish

The AP reported that Beto O’Rourke at rally ‘spoke at length in his native Spanish.’

Spanish is not O’Rourke’s native tongue. He descended from Irish Americans, so O’Rourke’s first language is English.

Nowhere in the article does it say his full name, nor does the author mention his Irish-American roots.

The AP deleted the reference to “native Spanish” in its article but not before it someone took a screenshot.

‘We have learned not to fear our differences, but to respect and embrace them,’ he told a crowd that waved small American flags and black-and-white signs reading ‘Viva Beto’ while often interrupting their candidate to chant his first name. O’Rourke also spoke at length in Spanish, eliciting loud and sustained cheers.

Newsbusters:

How far will the liberal media go to boost Beto O’Rourke’s Hispanic street cred? In an article published today, the Associated Press wrote that in a speech he gave in his hometown of El Paso [emphasis added] :

“O’Rourke also spoke at length in his native Spanish, eliciting loud and sustained cheers.”

“Native Spanish?” Sorry, AP, but Beto is an American-born, fourth-generation Irish-American. He doesn’t seem ever to have lived in a Spanish-speaking country. His native language is inglés–sorry, English. More

The AP gets mocked for the report saying Beto O’Rourke spoke at rally ‘in his native Spanish:’

If white privilege is real, why would Robert O’Rourke pretend to be Hispanic? Just like everything on the left, Beto is a complete fake. He is not in anyway Hispanic. Just another lying, cheating, crooked Democrat and his name isn’t Beto either.

How could the AP think that a name like O’Rourke was Hispanic in the first place?
