Joe Biden has one job within the democratic party right now: Don’t look too old to be President.
That’s it. That’s all that he needs to do. His centrist pandering has already imbued him with the electability that a majority of the democratic party is looking for. After all, their only true goal for 2020 is to beat Donald Trump, and the former Vice President holds the key to the midwestern votes needed to do so.
After the last debate’s bleeding eye kerfuffle, one would think that Biden’s team would do whatever was necessary to prevent another embarrassing medical incident from occurring.

Then, when speaking about racial inequality in education, Biden demonstrated his concern that children weren’t listening to enough records in school.
I say this completely seriously.
What the bloody hell was this answer from Joe Biden?
From the dismissive smirk, to talking about "play the radio, make sure you have the record player on at night." Then went to talk about Venezuela and Nicolas Maduro?#DemDebate pic.twitter.com/PazYagTVuq

Sensing the blood in the
eye water, Julian Castro went after Biden for seemingly forgetting what he has just said two minutes earlier.
BIDEN: They do not have to buy in. They do not have to buy in. [Emphasis added]
CASTRO: You just said that, you just said that two minutes ago. You just said two minutes ago that they would have to buy in. You said they would have to buy in. [Emphasis added]
BIDEN: Your grandmother would not have to buy in. If she qualified for Medicaid, she’s automatically in. [Emphasis added]
CASTRO: Are you forgetting what you said two minutes ago? Are you forgetting what you said already just two minutes ago? I mean, I can’t believe that you said two minutes ago that they had to buy in and now you’re saying they don’t… you’re forgetting that. [Emphasis added]
BIDEN: No, I said anyone like your grandmother who has no money. You’re automatically enrolled. [Emphasis added]
