The mere fact that there are two dozen democrats vying for the 2020 presidential nomination should tell us all that we need to know about that race – namely, that it’s a mess.
True to form, the 2020 democrats have been busy cannibalizing themselves vociferously over the course of the last few months. To be fair, however, they didn’t exactly start out too strong.
Of the early contenders, Kamala Harris was caught lying about “smoking marijuana” and listing to Snoop Dogg and Tupac in school, despite the fact that she had graduated long before either artists had released a single track. To make matters worse, Harris’ comment came curing Black History Month.
On the other side of the field there’s Joe Biden, whose grabby, creepy behavior toward women young and old should have seemingly sunk his campaign.
Surprisingly, the touchy-feely nonsense didn’t seem to bother the democrats too badly, with Biden now leading closest rival Bernie Sanders by almost double the latter’s percentage points.
This doesn’t mean that the entire progressive political sphere will feel the same way, as liberal comedian Bill Maher explains while reiterating Biden’s age.
“I do worry, I do worry,” Maher said about Biden. “Like I’ve said about age, it’s individual. Some people look pretty good … Joe doesn’t look good. He looks like he’s on a coin.”
The HBO star then referred to Biden’s recent interaction with a 10-year-old girl on the campaign trail, an encounter that raised eyebrows when Biden told her, “I’ll bet you’re as bright as you are good-looking.” Biden had previously faced criticism for remarks and gestures toward girls and women.
If Biden makes it to the nomination, he will become the oldest presidential nominee in modern American history.
