Black unemployment is at its lowest point ever in history since the metric has been measured as Donald Trump’s first term in the White House begins to wind down.
Unemployment for African Americans has fallen to 5.4 percent according to government numbers released this week.
This marks the third consecutive month that black unemployment has fallen.
The unemployment rate for black men hit the record low of 5.1 percent. This number is lower than the previous record low of 5.2 which was set in December of 1973.
For black women, the rate fell to 4.8 percent, up two-tenths from September.
Latino unemployment had already hit the lowest point in history last April.
The rate for Latinos fell to a record low of 4.2% in April, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
“In April, the unemployment rate for Hispanics and Latinos, aged 16 and up, was 4.2%, down from 4.7% in March – breaking the record low of 4.3% set two months earlier in February. BLS began tracking Hispanic-Latino employment data in 1973,” CNS News wrote in May.
Job Creators Network President and CEO Alfredo Ortiz says Hispanics have benefited greatly from President Donald Trump’s economic policies:
“One of the biggest beneficiaries of the Trump economy has been Hispanics, whose entrepreneurial talents have been harnessed in this climate of deregulation and tax cuts,” Ortiz said. “While Democrats play class warfare and identity politics, President Trump’s policies are creating a booming economy.”
“Once again, unemployment for blacks in the U.S. has reached a record low. Trump’s policies of deregulation and low taxation have created one of the best environments for job creation in a generation,” said black American advocacy group Project 21 Co-Chairman Horace Cooper. “When Americans – black or white – have a job and are independent and self-sustaining they are happier, their families are better off and the economy booms. This is a welcome change that should be applauded as well as maintained into the future.”
“President Kennedy once said a rising tide lifts all boats, and this latest economic news shows the Trump Administration’s policies are helping all demographics – including black Americans,” said Project 21 member Christopher Arps added. “Reducing taxes and less regulations have always proven to be a boon for the economy.”
