Blacks Suffer Brunt of Obama’s Unemployment Failure in June

Exactly three years after the recession officially ended by the Obama Administration’s reckoning, African-Americans continued to be the hardest hit segment of the population as government unemployment figures for June showed a stagnant job market that added only 80,000 positions, far below expectations.

The mainstream media’s “experts” had generally predicted 100,000 or even 150,000 new jobs in June. Considering how consistently wrong said experts have been, the big media might want to rethink using the Obama cheerleading squad and finding some real economists.

Among black workers, unemployment went up almost 1 percent in one month, from 13.6 percent in May to 14.4 percent in June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report.

For young black people ages 16 to 19, unemployment rose from 36.5 percent in May to a staggering 39.3 percent in June.

Joblessness stayed level among Hispanics, who have recently been courted by King Obama, particularly through his decree to allow amnesty for what may end up being millions of illegal aliens. Unemployment in June was 11 percent, the same as in May but up from 10.3 percent in April.

Overall, the unemployment rate remained stuck at 8.2 percent after rising 0.1 percent in May. That number is “seasonally adjusted,” which means it’s moderated by the Labor Department’s averaging of rates over several months. The “unadjusted” figure is actually 8.4 percent, up from 7.9 percent since May.

One bit of good news to conservatives and libertarians is that government payrolls fell by 4,000 for the month.

The numbers you won’t hear in the mainstream media are what are called the “U-6” numbers, representing total unemployment, including workers who are underemployed or employed only part time because they can’t find full-time jobs. That unadjusted number rose from 14.3 percent in May to 15.1 percent in June.

The media immediately went into spin control for Obama, focusing on the “horse race” aspect of the coming election, but even the New York Times had difficulty finding a ray of hope and change amid the dismal jobs data.

But that didn’t stop headlines like “Hopeful signs emerge for struggling jobs market” or “Growth despite jobless figures.”

One of these days, instead of covering for Obama, the media might try admitting the truth, that the economy is in a shambles because of the policies of a rotten president the media never bothered to vet.
