Billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein, a close personal friend of former president Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary, reportedly has died by suicide in a Manhattan jail cell early on Saturday morning, according to sources.
Corrections officers at the Metropolitan Correctional Center reportedly called emergency responders at around 6:40 AM on Saturday morning, according to ABC New York.
Epstein had been under suicide watch already and reportedly tried to commit suicide late in July. According to NBC, Epstein showed no signs of injury after the apparent suicide attempt on July 23.
According to NBC’s July report:
Epstein was discovered semi-conscious, in a fetal position, with marks on his neck July 23, according to sources close to the investigation. He may have tried to hang himself, the sources said, but investigators had not ruled out the possibility that he was attacked by a fellow inmate or had staged the incident to get a transfer to a different facility.
The accused pedophile was hospitalized after the attempt but seemed to have suffered no permanent injuries.
However, now, on August 10, it appears that he was successful in his attempt to end his life.
Epstein has been accused of arranging to have sex with girls as young as 14 and for trafficking these girls across state lines and out of the country for his rich and powerful friends to have sex with.
Bill Clinton is known to have flown on Epstein’s “Lolita Express” and partied with the accused rapist and pedophile on at least 20 occasions or more.
Just this week documents were unsealed revealing testimony form a woman who claims to have been held as a sex slave by Epstein. In the testimony, Virginia Giuffre claims that Epstein and his cohorts would threaten girls and take away their passports to force them to have sex with rich and powerful men including former Maine Sen. George Mitchell, ex-New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and many others.
Epstein was arrested early last month and charged with a long list of criminal sex crimess. He could have faced up to 45 years in prison if convicted.
Despite his riches and his connections with the Hollywood and political elite, he was denied bail as a flight risk.
