A Broadway production based loosely on Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential run in 2008 is closing down a month early due to poor ticket sales.
The news doesn’t bode well for the former First Lady and daughter, Chelsea, who are expected to launch a film and television production company focused on women’s issues.
The Hollywood Reporter (THR) reveals that the early shutdown of Hillary and Clinton is specifically “due to underwhelming ticket sales.”
The show began in March and was scheduled to run through July 21st, but will instead run its final showing on Sunday, June 23rd.
“The play, which cost $4.2 million to produce, began performances in March and drew mixed-to-positive reviews, but has struggled to fill seats, reaching only 36 percent of its gross potential in the last two weeks,” THR reports. “Its cumulative box office stands at $4.7 million.”
The total number of performances means the play was netting roughly $7,000 per show. What happened?!
More proof that America is moving on even if Hillary can’t. The Hillary/Bill Broadway show is closing early because of low ticket sales.https://t.co/YKdvliTmXZ

Hillary and Clinton
THR explains that the show “is not based on the real Clintons, but instead characters with the same names in an alternate reality.”
Alternate reality? That’s pretty much the Clinton family in a nutshell.
The play features Laurie Metcalf and John Lithgow in the leading roles, so they don’t exactly lack star power.
Metcalf recently admitted that President Trump’s prospects of winning again in 2020 were giving her a panic attack.
“This is truly, truly upsetting and unsettling,” she told the New York Times’ Maureen Dowd, “and this low-grade panic attack I’ve been living under just went to orange. I had such high hopes of him being out of office before 2020.”
Well, it looks like once again, Trump has outlasted something associated with Hillary.
Last November, the Clintons kicked off an international speaking tour by fielding questions from a Clinton Foundation donor in a half-empty hockey arena in Toronto.
According to the Daily Mail, the opening date featured “empty seats both in upper-level seats and on the ground floor, where tickets were pricier.”
Meanwhile, tickets were selling on StubHub for as low $15, well below the low-end price of $53 when tickets for the speaking tour were first made available. One ticket was even selling for $6.55 in Canadian Dollars, less than $5 in America.
Now a $4.2 million production associated with Hillary is going down in flames. It would appear a perpetually lying, two-time presidential election loser isn’t a big draw these days.
