Bronx Mother Murdered by Gunshot in the Eye from Gang Banger Firing Through Door Peephole

A Bronx mother was murdered when she was shot through the eye by a gang banger who fired his gun through the peephole in the woman’s front door.

Wendy Martinez, 45, was home with her 14-year-old son when she went to answer her door on Saturday. As she looked through the peephole of her door, a shot rang out.

Police think that the bullet was meant for her gangbanger older son who was not home at the time. The murder, police say, was just a failed assassination attempt.

The victim’s young son said Martinez heard the doorbell and went to the door and asked who was there. No one answered. She asked a second time, then slid open the peephole slide and was shot.

According to the New York Post, police have some clues:

There was surveillance video of the killer at the building — but he carried an open umbrella to shield his identity, sources said.

The killer fled and Martinez’s teenage son hid in a bedroom and called 911, sources said. He was so shocked and frightened that had to be coaxed out of hiding when investigators arrived.

Police believe that Martinez’ son, Brian Solano, 25, was the real target of the crime.

The elder son was not home at the time and was later found with his girlfriend on Long Island.

Solano, a suspected member of the Trinitarios gang, was accused of murdering 21-year-old Willie Lora in 2014. And Lora’s gang associates have been on the hunt for Solano ever since.

“That’s a gang-related hit,” a source told the paper. “This is street justice.”

Police also say that gangs had been threatening Solano on social media.

The dead woman’s neighbors lamented the attack.

“This is a safe building. No drugs, no people hanging out on the corners,” neighbor Hector Flores told the paper. “To hear the gunshot and find out something like this happened here, it’s shocking”
