Democratic Rep. Jackie Speier is ready to declare a mistrial before impeachment even goes to the Senate.
“We’re going to have to call for a mistrial before it ever gets over to the Senate,” Rep. Jackie Speier says in response to House Majority Leader McConnell stating that he is not an impartial juror. “I would think Mitch McConnell should recuse himself.”

Democratic California Rep. Jackie Speier said Tuesday that impeachment might be heading for a mistrial before it even gets to the Senate.
Speier made the comment to CNN’s Jake Tapper, claiming that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should be made to recuse himself. “We’re going to have to call for a mistrial before it ever gets over to the Senate,” she said, referencing McConnell’s own admission that he would not be an “impartial” juror in an impeachment trial.
McConnell told reporters Tuesday that the entire process was political and that he could not be expected to be impartial. “I’m not an impartial juror. This is a political process. I’m not impartial about this at all,” he said. More
The Democrats want to “impeach” Trump but they don’t want it to go to the Senate… they want to run against an “impeached” president in 2020, not an “acquitted” president.
The only way to do that was to come up with some trick to keep it from going to the Senate after they vote to impeach him.
Twitter had a few thoughts:
Total lack of self-awareness by @jaketapper and cnn and the Dems.

So cute how they pretend to care about fairness now. Those adorable autocrats.

So, then she’s also for recusing all who stated they would work to impeach @realDonaldTrump even before the phone call & before even their case about the phone call was conducted?🤣🤣🤣

Just wondering, how many democrats in the House were impartial? I’ll wait.
Fair play, honey. You don’t get to control both sides of Congress.

Considering they are already planning the Senate trial and there hasn’t even been a House vote yet, I’d say it’s a pretty fair assessment to say the House Dems are not being impartial.

All Senators running for President should recuse themselves as they would not be impartial.

By this reasoning, everyone should recuse themselves beginning with Schiff, Nadler, and Pelosi.
