Can a Homosexual Inherit the Kingdom of God?

America has become a Romans 1:18-31 nation. By that I mean that God has turned our nation over to its sinful lusts and desires. The Apostle Paul wrote about a people under God’s judgment for not only turning to sin but approving of a number of sinful ways. Among the sins referred to by Paul is homosexuality.

Sadly a growing number of homosexuals claim to be Christian and that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. They have conveniently omitted some sections of Scripture and twisted others. Somehow they ignore verses like Leviticus 20:13 which states:

“If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”

I find it hard to fathom how anyone can ignore such strong and damning words from the Creator of the universe, but they obviously manage to do just that. I’ve heard some of them use the flawed reasoning of claiming that what God said in the Old Testament is not valid today. While they make that claim, they still adhere to many other statutes God gave us in the Old Testament such as do not steal, lie or murder.

So if the Old Testament isn’t valid to them, which demonstrates just how weak and compromised their understanding of Scripture is, then how do they get past 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 which states:

“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

That seems pretty clear to me that people knowingly committing these sins will not inherit eternal life with God in heaven. Why? Because when one becomes a Christian, they put off the old sinful self and take on a new self, dedicated to following Christ and biblical statutes.

However, if a person professes to be a Christian and knowingly continues to sin, then the sincerity of their proclaimed Christianity must be questioned and seriously doubted. Consider Ephesians 4:17-24:

“Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

There are a number of other verses in the New Testament that speak of putting off the old self and putting on the new self in Christ. They all speak of turning away from the former and sinful ways. If one persists in continuing in their former sinful ways, then Scripture is clear that they will not inherit the kingdom of God which means that they truly cannot be Christians.

The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, men who practice homosexuality, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, revilers, swindlers need to pay close attention to 2 Cor. 6 that says they will not inherit the kingdom of God. They also need to take a close look at Matthew 8:21-23 that states:

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”

Based solely on Scripture and not my own personal feelings, I can’t help but believe that Scripture makes it perfectly clear that practicing homosexuals cannot be true Christians. They love their sinful perversion more than they love Jesus, thus making it their lord over THE LORD.
