For the past few years concerned women have been sharing evidence that the Girl Scouts USA has been in partnership with Planned Parenthood. Since their association began, millions of young girls are being educated in the liberal ways of Planned Parenthood which includes not only being pro-abortion but that it’s okay to be sexually promiscuous.
Sharon Slater, president of Family Watch International wanted to know more about the association with Planned Parenthood and exactly what the sex education program the Girl Scouts were teaching contained.
In March 2010, the United Nations held a conference on women’s rights. One of the workshops at the conference was sponsored by the Girl Scouts and Slater tried to attend by sitting in the back, but was told it was for girls only and was escorted out of the room. When the workshop ended and the doors opened, she managed to slip in and pick up one of the handouts that were given to the attendees.
Slater was shocked when she saw the content of the twenty page brochure which was titled, Happy, Healthy and Hot. Besides containing contact information for the International Planned Parenthood Federation, the brochure also contained what Slater described as sexually explicit information which included statements telling girls that any form of sexual activity they desire to engage in is permissible and that if a girl knows she has HIV, that it is up to her discretion on whether or not she wants to tell a potential sexual partner of her illness or not.
After Slater wrote about this on the Family Watch International webpage, Girl Scouts USA issued a statement denying any association with Planned Parenthood or with the Happy, Healthy and Hot brochure. Since then, Slater and several other concerned parents have conducted further investigation into the Girl Scouts’ association with Planned Parenthood and have placed information and documentation to back up their claims on their website.
Now, Julie Brown, President of American Life League (ALL), a Catholic pro-life education and advocacy group, is now pushing for a national boycott against buying Girl Scout cookies. She stated:
“The Girl Scouts was once a trusted organization dedicated to character building in young girls and women. Now, GSUSA is abusing that trust.”
“Most parents and grandparents remain painfully unaware the GSUSA has introduced so-called ‘family planning’ ideology in its curriculum and promotes groups like Planned Parenthood to our daughters and granddaughters.”
ALL issued a statement saying:
“[It] hopes that the cookie boycott will raise awareness with parents and grandparents that Girl Scouts is no longer the organization they grew up with and once trusted.”
“There are more wholesome ways to spend the cookie money.”
Penny Nance, President of Concerned Women for America has also joined the boycott against Girl Scout cookies, saying:
“The Girl Scouts of America went off track years ago and I turned in my sash in response. Their alliance with Planned Parenthood and the left is not new. Of course we have members who are leaders and choose to try to make the organization better from the inside and we support them in that endeavor. However, I specially chose to not allow my daughter to join. We encourage families of faith to consider alternatives like Heritage Girls and others.”
Janice Shaw Crouse, also with Concerned Women for America added:
“[The Girl Scout policy on sexual morality] which focuses on self-discovery and protection rather than sexual abstinence, is a major problem when STDs are rampant among 15-25-year-olds and teen pregnancy while not increasing remains too high.”
“The Girl Scouts formerly embraced the Judeo-Christian values that Americans once grew up with – love of God, love of country, treating others fairly and living wholesome lives. Now, Girl Scouts are more focused on indoctrinating girls on the so-called women’s rights agenda.”
John Pisciotta, Director of Pro-Life WACO is spearheading the effort to boycott the Girl Scout cookies. He said:
“[He’s] offended that the Girl Scouts honor pro-abortion activists like Wendy Davis and Kathleen Sebelius and hold them up as leaders to be emulated by our young women and girls.”
Other pro-life and conservative organizations are joining the boycott and I strongly urge you to join them also. Don’t support the liberal ideology of Girl Scout USA leaders that is being used to brainwash your daughters and granddaughters into becoming pro-abortion sexually liberal sluts.
If you are contemplating joining the boycott, don’t be swayed by the claim that the money raised by selling Girl Scout cookies only goes to supporting local troop activities. Paul Rondeau, Executive Director of ALL told WND that GSUSA makes millions of dollars through the licensing fees of the cookies and other items. He also says that just boycotting their cookies is not enough. You need to let GSUSA know why you are boycotting their cookies. Write to them, call them and email them. Many voices combined together can make a difference and have in the past with other companies. I once heard someone say that when one person whispers, almost no one hears them, but when thousands whisper together their voices are heard as a thunderous shout. Please add your voice to growing whispers and help us to shout loudly enough to get the leaders of GSUSA’s attention.
