CBS Takes Heat for Saying Boy Merely ‘Plunged’ from Mall Balcony When in Reality He was THROWN!

CBS took heat after publishing a story that was seen as minimizing the near murder of a boy who was thrown from a shopping mall balcony with a headline saying that the boy merely “plunged” to the ground when in fact the boy was thrown to the ground in an act of abject evil.

On Friday, CBS jumped to its twitter account with a message saying, “Child who plunged from Mall of America balcony showing “real signs of recovery.”

The tweet linked to a story updating the condition of the five-year-old boy thrown 40-feet to the ground by a man he did not know.

A 5-year-old boy who authorities say was thrown from a third-floor balcony at Mall of America is showing “real signs of recovery,” a lawyer for boy’s family told CBS Minnesota on Friday. Police said the suspect, Emmanuel Aranda, told them he went to the mall “looking for someone to kill” and chose the boy at random.

But Twitter users became incensed when they read that headline saying that the boy “plunged” to near death, instead of the truth that he was thrown off the balcony.

Critics of CBS said that the news organization was minimizing the act of evil from a crime to some mere accident where the boy accidentally “plunged” to the ground.

It wasn’t long before the headline was changed, with CBS apologizing.

Indeed, the story now sports an editor’s update reading: “Editor’s note: This headline has been updated to more accurately describe the incident. A man is accused of throwing a 5-year-old boy off a balcony at Mall of America.”

Twitter users were all over CBS:
