America’s biggest fast food chicken chain has closed its only British location after radical LGBTQ activists forced the closure.
The location in the Oracle shopping center in Reading, England, had only opened just weeks ago, but faced constant protests by hateful, radical gays in Britain.
The gay activist groups began protesting the restaurant location due to the Atlanta-based company’s donations to traditional Christian organizations that the gay groups claim “hate” gays.
The company’s founder, Dan Cathy, has also affirmed his belief in traditional marriage and his opposition to gay marriage.
Chick-fil-A is the third largest fast food chain in America standing only behind McDonald’s and Starbucks in sales. But until recently, the chain has not tried to push outside the U.S.A.
The British location was to be the first effort to hit a large overseas market.
But it was not to be after the location was targeted by the radical gay groups in the UK.
The Oracle released a statement saying, “We always look to introduce new concepts for our customers, however, we have decided on this occasion that the right thing to do is to only allow Chick-fil-A to trade with us for the initial six-month pilot period, and not to extend the lease any further.”
For its part, the restaurant chain denied that it donated to any anti-gay organizations.
“Our giving has always focused on youth and education. We have never donated with the purpose of supporting a social or political agenda,” the company said.
“There are 145,000 people – black, white; gay, straight; Christian, non-Christian – who represent Chick-fil-A,” the company said of its work force.
