A woman holding to different Chinese passports was apprehended with computer spying equipment as she tried to enter Donald Trump’s Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago.
According to Fox News, Yujing Zhang, 32, was taken into custody by the Secret Service on Tuesday.
The woman reportedly gave several different stories to different employees of the resort as she tried to get into the place.
A criminal complaint filed U.S. District for the Southern District of Florida against the woman says that she told one security guard that she just wanted to use the pool. But her story changed with the next person she spoke to.
One Mar-a-Lago official said that she was confused because the woman gave a last name of somene who frequents the resort so she thought the woman was related. And “due to a potential language barrier issue,” the woman was allowed to pass into the building.
But then the woman’s story changed:
Once inside, Zhang allegedly rode on a valet golf cart, and eventually told a receptionist she was at the club for a United Nations Chinese American Association event to take place later that day — an event which the receptionist knew wasn’t scheduled.
Zhang told the Secret Service she was there to attend a “United Nations Friendship Event” between China and the U.S., and said she was visiting Mar-a-Lago early to take photos of the property — seemingly contradicting her earlier statement that she was there to visit the pool. She reportedly showed Ivanovich an invitation in Chinese that he could not read.
The woman was removed from the property and “became verbally aggressive with agents” when she was interviewed, the documents alleged.
Once arrested it became clear that the suspect could speak English perfectly well, so the “language barrier” was just a ruse.
She also claimed that she was at Mar-a-Lago to meet with a man named “Charles” and she was there to “attend this event and attempt to speak with a member of the President’s family about Chinese and American foreign economic relations.”
But no such event was on the schedule.
Fox News also noted: “The agent said Zhang carried four cellphones, a laptop computer, an external hard drive and a thumb drive containing computer malware. She did not have a swimsuit.”
The Secret Service said it is an on-going investigation.
