Citing Acts of Terror Against Israel, President Trump Closes Palestinian Office in D.C.

President Donald Trump has sensibly closed down the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) office in Washington. It’s about time we had a president in office who realizes and affirms that the so-called Palestinian government is nothing but a terror outfit.

In a statement issued Monday, PLO Secretary General Saeb Erekat bemoaned the move saying, “We have been notified by a US official of their decision to close the Palestinian mission to the US.” Boy, “mission” sure is an interesting word for an office filled with thieves and terrorists!

Trump’s Department of State confirmed the move on Monday specifically citing the PLO’s refusal to work with our partners in Israel:

The Administration has determined after careful review that the office of the General Delegation of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in Washington should close. We have permitted the PLO office to conduct operations that support the objective of achieving a lasting, comprehensive peace between Israelis and the Palestinians since the expiration of a previous waiver in November 2017. However, the PLO has not taken steps to advance the start of direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel.

To the contrary, PLO leadership has condemned a U.S. peace plan they have not yet seen and refused to engage with the U.S. government with respect to peace efforts and otherwise. As such, and reflecting Congressional concerns, the Administration has decided that the PLO office in Washington will close at this point. This decision is also consistent with Administration and Congressional concerns with Palestinian attempts to prompt an investigation of Israel by the International Criminal Court.

The United States continues to believe that direct negotiations between the two parties are the only way forward. This action should not be exploited by those who seek to act as spoilers to distract from the imperative of reaching a peace agreement. We are not retreating from our efforts to achieve a lasting and comprehensive peace.

This is an amazing move by a U.S. president. After all, for decades American administrations have pretended that the “Palestinians” are a “partner” in the Mid East peace process when they absolutely never have been.

Even as Americans and Israelis have worked hard to foster the means for peace, the PLO has pretended to listen while winking at their Jew-hating constituents with the sure knowledge that they will never, ever really work for a lasting peace.

Even when pretending to observe cease fires the PLO is only plotting its next attacks on Israelis.

Worse, they have still never accepted the simple concept that the Jews and their nation have a right to exist. The PLO is now and always has been nothing but a terror outfit set on a path to Jewish genocide. They say so every month in their native, Arabic tongue in messages to their own people.

Yet, one after another, foolish American presidents have pretended that the PLO is a true partner working toward peace and in the doing they send billions of American dollars to so-called “relief” efforts. But it is money that never goes to the poor “Palestinian” people and only gets fed into the PLO war machine.

As Daily Caller reported:

Monday’s announcement comes weeks after Washington said it would cancel over $200 million in direct assistance to the West Bank and Gaza. The Trump administration has also decided to withdraw all U.S. funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which administers aid programs for Palestinian refugees and their descendants.

The decision to shut down the PLO office in Washington was prompted in part by the organization’s support for prosecution of Israeli leaders in the International Criminal Court (ICC), according to Bolton’s prepared remarks. The Trump administration in 2017 warned that it might close the office after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called for the investigation and trial of Israeli leaders in the ICC and other international legal bodies.

The U.S. is not party to the treaty that created the ICC and has long rejected its jurisdiction over American citizens. In his Federalist Society speech, entitled “Protecting American Constitutionalism and Sovereignty from International Threats,” Bolton is expected to vow that the U.S. will use “any means necessary” to shield American citizens and friendly allies from ICC prosecutions.

That is not all. The Trump administration is working up punitive actions against the terrorists running the Palestinian National Authority.

All we can say is, it’s about time.

The fact is, these so-called “Palestinians” are not worthy of our partnership or our protection. They have been bad actors from the beginning. Until they at least accept the notion that Israel has a right to exist, they simply cannot be a peace partner.
