Climate Change Alarmist Suffer Another Blow — Data Proves U.S. Hasn’t Warmed Since 2005

The high priests of climate change have suffered another blow to their claims of global panic with news that the U.S. has not experienced any warming since at least 2005 if not longer.

Global warming religionists insist that the world is burning up and we are on the road to destruction. But as Real Clear Energy writer James Taylor noted, even the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has had to report that there has been no warming for well over a decade.

Now, remember, the climate alarmists insist that we only have “12 years,” and that would imply that things are on the verge of being so bad that there is no return. Yet, there has been no warming in 15 years?

As Taylor reports:

In January 2005, NOAA began recording temperatures at its newly built U.S. Climate Reference Network (USCRN). USCRN includes 114 pristinely maintained temperature stations spaced relatively uniformly across the lower 48 states. NOAA selected locations that were far away from urban and land-development impacts that might artificially taint temperature readings.

This is important because the network of temperature stations that the new system replaced were not located in areas that gave useful readings because many were placed near high-temperature urban areas. The original network was not created to scientifically record temps to give readings for global warming but were instead just placed to give cities an idea of the temps in those areas alone. In other words, they were great to tell morning commuters how hot it was in their city that day, but not so great to measure if temperatures across the country were rising or falling.

The new USCRN system was created in part to test the global warming theory and therefore avoided the sort of artificial hot spots that cities create.

But the system also dashed the hopes of globaloneyists because it shows no warming at all since 2005.

As Taylor points out:

Climate activists frequently visit or mention particular regions, states, or places in the United States and claim warming impacts are evident, accelerating, and unmistakable. Yet how can that be when there has been no warming in the United States since at least 2005?

But there’s more:

There is also good reason to believe U.S. temperatures have not warmed at all since the 1930s. Raw temperature readings at the preexisting stations indicate temperatures are the same now as 80 years ago. All of the asserted U.S. warming since 1930 is the product of the controversial adjustments made to the raw data. Skeptics point out that as the American population has grown, so has the artificial warming signal generated by growing cities, more asphalt, more automobiles, and more machinery.

The new USCRN data also comports with other studies that have shown that temps everywhere else in the world have not warmed in 15 years, either.

Taylor concludes:

Either way, it is becoming increasingly difficult for American politicians and climate activists to say they can see the effects of warming temperatures in the United States. For at least the past 14 years, there have been no such warming temperatures.

Looks like the lies of the global warming crowd are finally starting to catch up to them.
