A federal court has sided with President Donald Trump and said that it is perfectly legal for him to defund baby-killing organization Planned Parenthood which stands to lose $60 million in funding courtesy of the U.S. taxpayers.
In March, the Trump administration finalized plans to remove the $60 million in federal funding to the notorious abortion mill operator, but liberal activists immediately challenged the plan in court.
According to LifeSite:
Title X funds are supposed to be used to help low-income women and men receive birth control, cancer screenings and other health care services. While the tax money cannot be used to pay for abortions, it indirectly funds Planned Parenthood’s vast abortion business.
But on Thursday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted the Trump administration’s request to end the national injunctions ordered by lower courts in the states of Oregon, Washington, and California.
According to Politico:
A three-judge panel said the administration will likely prevail in the legal battle over the Title X family planning program since similar Reagan-era rules were upheld by the Supreme Court almost 30 years ago.
“Absent a stay, HHS will be forced to allow taxpayer dollars to be spent in a manner that it has concluded violates the law, as well as the Government’s important policy interest in ensuring that taxpayer dollars do not go to fund or subsidize abortions,” wrote the judges, all appointees of previous Republican presidents, in a 3-0 opinion.
The Trump administration announced the “Protect Life Rule,” a change to the Title X rules that would defund Planned Parenthood’s family planning services (which the funding was supposed to pay for) unless the organization moves those services out of the same facilities in which they perform abortions.
The policy gives Planned Parenthood 120 days to move the family planning services out of its abortion centers or risk losing the funding.
