This is just getting ridiculous. They’re not going to blame the actual perpetrator, and they’re not even blaming the bombs themselves, as is their wont in the context of gun control. No, they’ve got to keep the sequestration crisis going as long as possible. The Boston bombs were detonated precisely because of a 2% reduction in the government’s growth rate. You see what happens when you cut proposed increases in spending?
House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, a Democrat from Maryland said that because of sequestration, the intelligence community wasn’t able to prevent the bombings from occurring:
“I think there are multiple reasons for ensuring that we invest in our security both domestic and international security. That we invest in the education of our children, that we invest in growing jobs in America and don’t pursue any irrational policy of cutting the highest priorities and the lowest priorities by essentially the same percentage.”
But that wasn’t all he said. Fox News quoted him as being even more blatant. He said that the marathon bombing is “proof that those automatic spending changes negatively impacted the intelligence community.”
And Representative Xavier Becerra from California who chairs the House Democratic Caucus stated that the first responders were not immune from the sequester cuts, saying “We have to send you less money to help your first responders.”
It was Harry Reid that blamed the deaths of 7 Marines during a training exercise on sequestration. And the plummeting jobs numbers are also because of sequestration.
The irony of all this is that sequestration was Obama’s idea. And even if it weren’t his idea, he still signed the budget into law. He didn’t have to sign it if he foresaw all this mayhem and carnage resulting from reductions in government growth. So, are all these Democrats actually claiming that the Boston bombing was Obama’s fault?
Sequestration was a “bipartisan” effort. I thought that was supposed to be a good thing, because it means Republicans and Democrats are working together to solve America’s problems. Republicans obviously agreed with Obama’s proposal to slow down government growth. Whether sequestration has been good or bad, the point is that the Obama administration owns it. So, if they’re going to continue to blame everything bad that happens on sequestration, then they’re only blaming themselves.
