Despite a call for a boycott by a long list of radical gay activist groups, national fast food chain Chick-fil-A has more than doubled its annual sales.
Gay activists have always hated Chick-fil-A because the company was founded by a Christian family that closes on Sundays to give employees time off for church attendance, and for supporting organizations that advocate for traditional American family values.
Recently, the gay groups got their panties in a bunch over what was supposed to be a fun “feud” between Chick-fil-A and Popeye’s chicken, a little online fracas that sent millions of people looking to try the Popeye’s chicken sandwich causing the Louisiana chicken chain to sell out in short order.
But, always ready to drain the fun and humanity out of everything, the advertising feud was not fun for the radical gays. It was deadly serious and the fun public relations tete-a-tete between fast food giants became the springboard for another national boycott of Chick-fil-A as far as the gays were concerned.
Well, it looks like the gays lost this battle (again) because Chick-fil-A’s business has grown to previously unseen heights. Apparently chicken lovers everywhere could not care less that gays hate Chick-fi-A.
According to the Washington Examiner, Chick-fil-A is doing gangbusters business:
Chick-fil-A has more than doubled its annual sales since gay rights advocates called for a boycott of the chicken chain restaurant after it was revealed nearly a decade ago that the company donated to organizations that opposed same-sex marriage.
In 2018, the company had $10.5 billion in total sales, becoming the third-largest chain in the nation behind Starbucks ($20.5 billion) and McDonald’s ($38.5 billion). It was a 16.7% increase in sales from the year prior.
There are now more than 2,400 locations of the chicken sandwich joint across America and it continues to grow.
All this despite constant calls for boycotts from gays going back as far as 2011.
“The controversy began in 2011,” the paper wrote, “when Towleroad, a blog focused on news about gay and transgender issues, posted the headline: “If you’re eating Chick-fil-A, you’re eating anti-gay.” The headline was in response to the company’s support of a seminar hosted by the Pennsylvania Family Institute, which opposes same-sex marriage. ”
In more recent years the company said it would stop donating to political causes and organizations in an effort to appease its radical gay haters. However, some say they broke that pledge by donating to groups such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a group that still upholds traditional Christian beliefs.
Still, the fact that Chick-fil-A continues to grow, is still earning millions, and all despite the radical gays and their silly boycott efforts, this should tell Chick-fil-A that trying to appease the gays is a waste of time.
Chick-fil-A should ignore the radical gays and do whatever it wants to do. So far, no one else seems to care what the gays say. So why should Chick-fil-A?
