A former medical examiner now says that the injuries that killed convicted child molester and close Clinton pal Jeffrey Epstein is more consistent with a murder than a suicide.
In shocking new testimony, Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York City medical examiner, has pointed out that the injuries Epstein received in his jail cell is more likely the result of an attack and murder as opposed to a suicide by hanging.
Epstein who was already convicted of sexually molesting minors was in jail awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges when he was found dead in his jail cell on August 10.
Dr. Baden, who boasts a five-decade medical career, was hired by Epstein’s brother to review the autopsy records to see if the original suicide verdict was justifiable. Baden, though, ended up disagreeing with the government’s official cause of death determination.
The doctor noted that Epstein had two fractures on the left and right sides of his larynx, specifically the thyroid cartilage or Adam’s apple, as well as one fracture on the left hyoid bone above the Adam’s apple, Fox News reported.
“Those three fractures are extremely unusual in suicidal hangings and could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation,” the doctor said.
Baden added that the fractures present in the dead convict is very rare to see in a suicide.
“I’ve not seen in 50 years where that occurred in a suicidal hanging case,” Baden said.
Baden, whose experience includes the unchallenged determinations in more than 20,000 career examinations, said that the injuries are far more consistent with someone squeezing Epstein’s neck than if Epstein used a bed sheet to hang himself.
There were also hemorrhages in Epstein’s eyes, also indicative of murder as such blood ruptures are rarely seen in hangings.
“The prominent hemorrhage in the soft tissues of the neck next to the fractures is evidence of a fresh neck compression that could have caused the death,” Baden said.
One final bit of evidence would clinch a determination of murder, though, and Baden cautions that this evidence has not been confirmed.
“Whoever it is would have their DNA all over the ligature,” he said. “We don’t have those results yet,” Baden said adding that those results “should be reported quickly to give an idea and lessen the speculation.”
