Donald Trump has picked at the scab of Democrat politics and exposed its savage wound on the body politic. The Left has thrown everything at him and nothing seems to stick.
He has made fools of them and some Republicans, too. Like his comments about Christine Ford’s testimony. “I don’t know. I don’t know. Upstairs, downstairs, I don’t know. I don’t remember.” The media would not report on her bizarre testimony, so Trump tells the truth at his Mississippi rally to force their hand.
She can’t remember this or that, but she remembers that she had one beer. Sure enough, the media reported on Trump’s comments. Whoops! Now everyone knows that Ford is an Edsel when it comes to telling the truth.
Judge Kavanaugh was blasted because he drank a lot in high school and college. Maybe I should have taken up alcohol to get the kind of grades Kavanaugh got. The way some people describe Kavanaugh’s college years, he was a stumbling drunk. If this is true, then how did he graduate from Yale “with distinction”? Yale isn’t some backwoods college. Did Kavanaugh misrepresent his drinking days? I don’t know. What one person considers excessive drinking, another person describes a night out on the town.
There’s a clip of a video going around that shows former President Obama admitting the following in a 2001 interview:
“I was a thug … a “mischievous child. … I got into fights … I drank and did — and consumed substances that weren’t always legal … I might have drank [sic] a six-pack in an hour before going back to class.”
Then there’s this:
“When I was a teenager I used drugs, I drank, I pretty much tried whatever was out there. But I was in Hawaii and it was a pretty relaxed place,” Obama told the rapper Macklemore.
Let’s not forget these comments from his 1995 book, “Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance”:
I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years [in high school]. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though – Micky, my potential initiator, had been just a little too eager for me to go through with that. … He had pulled out the needle and the tubing, and I’d looked at him standing there, surrounded by big slabs of salami and roast beef, and right then an image popped into my head of an air bubble, shiny and round like a pearl, rolling quietly through a vein and stopping my heart.
The liberal response? At least Obama was honest!
The point is, a lot of young people can relate to both Kavanaugh and Obama. There are lots of things they regret doing and stopped doing as they matured. They put the days of youthful indiscretions behind them and made something of themselves.
Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony grated on me. Her child-like voice, indecision, and convenient forgetfulness were too much for me to take. Then there are the lies, like her story of having to put a second door in her house because she feared that her teenage attacker might return. This made no sense. First, it means someone wanting to break into the house now had three entry points (including the back door). Second, the timeline was wrong. The door was added to the house in 2008, not 2011, and had nothing to do with her fears about Brett Kavanaugh. Third, the door didn’t have anything to do with Kavanaugh. According to Paul Sperry at RealClearInvestigations, records indicate the door was used as the front door for a marriage counseling office by the previous owner.
Palo Alto city records show that a building permit for an additional room and exterior door was issued to Ford and her husband on Feb. 4, 2008 — more than four years before the May 2012 therapy session where, she says, she first identified Kavanaugh as her attacker…
Other documents, including health care-provider registration records, reveal that a marriage counselor listed Ford’s home address as her place of employment, ostensibly using the extra room and door for her clinical practice. That marriage therapist, Sylvia Adkins Randall, sold the home to the Fords in 2007, but continued to maintain the address for her business. (Hot Air)
If this is true, then Dr. Ford committed perjury.
Finally, there’s Barbra Streisand and dogs. I almost fell over when I heard this about Trump. It made me question my support for him. It’s devastating. Shocking. Here it is:
Donald Trump has never owned a dog. What does it say about someone who doesn’t like dogs? And of course his sons love killing wild animals for kicks. He’s the first president in 130 years who hasn’t had a dog in the White House…” Barbra Streisand tweeted, linking to an article from The Independent that reports on how President Trump doesn’t have a dog in the White House. (Breitbart)
If this doesn’t disqualify Trump from being President, what does?
