A woman was tackled to the ground after showing up at San Diego church with a handgun along with a baby.
SDPD officials said: “The female walked up on stage and made threats that she was going to blow up the church while waving the handgun.”
Here’s the video from 10news:
Police first received calls about an armed woman at a church service hosted at Mt. Everest Academy around noon. Witnesses said the woman came up on stage through a back entrance, holding a gun in one hand and a young boy in the other.
Churchgoers said the woman was shouting incomprehensibly, making comments about “martyrs,” “the rapture” and blowing up the church. Members of the congregation eventually tackled the woman, police said, and officers arrived a short time later to take the woman into custody. Police identified her as 31-year-old Anna Conkey.
Officers were seen walking out of the church with the 10-month-old boy in their arms. Police Lt. Christian Sharp said the woman’s second child, a 5-year-old girl, was found at a daycare center in Bonita. Both kids will be taken into protective custody and evaluated by Child Welfare Services, police said. More
Anna Conkey said God told her she was an apostle & ordered her to give a message to her church.
She says she is on a “spiritual journey” and says that she has been experiencing “the rapture” since this January.
She would have become a poster child for postpartum depression psychosis were it not for the fact she emailed NBC7 and tipped them off about the impending attack. Then, get this… she is”charged with making criminal threats and displaying a handgun in a threatening manner.”
She’s also a journalist for NBC… which says a lot.
