Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s mother fled New York because the taxes were killing her, according to a report.
Blanca Ocasio-Cortez, the New York representative’s mother, said in an interview that she moved from New York to Florida to pay less in taxes.
The elder Ocasio-Cortez told the Daily Mail about her family’s financial problems after her husband died, especially how she faced foreclosure twice.
“It was scary,” Blanca told the paper. “I had to take medicine I was so scared. I had to stop paying for the mortgage for almost a year. I was expecting someone knocking on the door to kick me out at any time. There were even real estate people coming around to take photos of the house for when it was going to be auctioned. The worst is that I only had $50,000 left to pay on the loan.”
Bianca said that she only got out from under by making a deal with the bank.
“I was cleaning houses in the morning and working as a secretary at a hospital in the afternoon,” she said. “I was working from 6am until 11pm. And I prayed and prayed, and things worked out. After the children graduated from college, I figured it was time for me to move to Florida.”
There was a reason for the move:
“I was paying $10,000 a year in real estate taxes up north. I’m paying $600 a year in Florida. It’s stress-free down here,” she noted.
After the interview, some left-wingers claimed that the rep’s mother moved because of Trump. But the fact is, she took up residence in the Sunshine State before Trump began implementing any of his policies. So, Trump had no part in her move.
Amusingly, even as mommy noted that high taxes sent her fleeing from her home, daughter Alexandria wants to jack up the whole nation’s taxes and hurt everyone.
Recently the silly Congresswoman wants to push everyone’s tax rate to an un-American 70 percent.
“You look at our tax rates back in the ’60’s, and when you have a progressive tax rate system, your tax rate, let’s say from $0-$75,000 may be 10 percent or 15 percent, et cetera, but once you get to like the tippy tops, on your 10 millionth dollar, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70 percent,” she blathered last month.
Apparently Alexandria doesn’t talk to mommy much.
