Equality Act Means End of Christian Freedom and Rights

Non-discriminatory laws generally protect the constitutional rights of law abiding citizens. They protect against discrimination based upon race (I prefer ethnicity), sex, religion and age.

However, liberals have been pushing to protect against discrimination based upon sinful lifestyles, namely homosexuality. No one is trying to grant special protection to murderers, rapists, pedophiles, thieves, and other sinful acts and lifestyles, just homosexuals. Yet in God’s eyes, they are all wrong and to be refrained from.

Liberals first tried to get the Employment Non-Discrimination Act passed but it could not make its way past congressional conservatives. Now, liberals are trying again with what they call the Equality Act, only this piece of legislation goes even further in granting homosexuals the same special protection from discrimination in employment and housing issues. The Equality Act would actually amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include homosexuality and gender identity under the definition of civil rights.

Linda Harvey is the Founder of Mission: America. According their website:

“… Mission:America, a non-profit organization whose objective is to equip Christians with current, accurate information about cultural issues such as feminism, homosexuality, education and New Age influences.”

Harvey brings alert to the Equality Act as not only does it give homosexuals special protection but it is also designed to nullify any religious freedom restoration acts. Harvey writes:

“The “gay lobby” has tried it before. But now that marriage is officially a grand social experiment in our nation, homosexual activists have moved on, updating and re-launching the next weapon of revolution. And it’s a whopper, one that potentially unites homosexual advocates with defenders of Planned Parenthood.

Their enemy? Christians, conservatives and all who are pro-life and pro-family.

The unjust and unequal “Equality Act” was introduced in Congress as H.R. 3185 and S. 1858 just before summer recess. This legislation jumps way beyond any previous anti-discrimination bill and would essentially wipe out free speech and religious liberty on the issues of homosexuality and gender change by declaring these behaviors to be civil rights in America.

Religious freedom restoration acts are declared to be powerless under this bill. Other religious exemptions are very weak and sure to be challenged as the gaystapo deploys armies of lawyers to undermine the Constitution. The 14th Amendment “equal protection” clause can justify investigations by the attorney general of suspected violations.

But the picture gets worse. This bill adds not just “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to civil rights law, but the category of “sex.” The bill says:

“Discrimination can occur on the basis of the sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition of an individual, as well as because of sex-based stereotypes. Each of these factors alone can serve as the basis for discrimination, and each is a form of sex discrimination.”

Do you see where this is going? This language seems to allow claims of discrimination against a multitude of pro-life efforts. Crisis pregnancy centers may be sued to change the services offered or the messages conveyed.

The “Equality Act” may be deployed in lawsuits to overturn laws restricting abortion. Prospective clinic patients may claim discrimination on the basis of sex if Planned Parenthood is defunded.

The House bill has 168 co-sponsors as I write this, with 39 in the Senate. All so far are Democrats and independents. Microsoft, Apple, Google and other companies have pledged support for this anti-Christian, anti-American bill, so Republicans may start taking heat from Wall Street to back this unconstitutional power grab.”

It appears that gay activists have an agenda to take complete control over Christians and strip them of every religious right and freedom they once had. The Human Rights Campaign, an LGBT special rights group recently posted that the US Supreme Court decision overturning state marriage laws did not go far enough. They want the same protection as minorities have, even though they are not a minority in the same sense. The Civil Rights Act does not refer to groups who share the same sinful perversions.

If the Equality Act is passed and goes into effect, nothing will stop homosexuals from imposing their sinful ways on all of us. That will also open the door to other groups of sinners such as polygamists and pedophiles. They’ll use all of the same arguments used by the LGBT community to justify their sinful lifestyles and then they’ll also be granted their special civil rights.

The only group of people in the United States that won’t have any rights or protections against discrimination will be Christians. We’re already subject to increased persecution due to our supposed Christian leader in the White House and under the Equality Act, we’ll face even greater persecution. Christian organizations and institutions will be forced to accept homosexuals and employ them. They’ll be allowed to teach Christian students that homosexuality is not a sin and should be openly embraced. Pastors will not be allowed to preach the Bible from the pulpit for fear of infringing on the civil rights of a homosexual.

The Equality Act takes America one step closer to becoming a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah and a Romans 1:18-31 nation.
