Failing CNN Laying Off Staffers in London, Cutting Programming

After lying to viewers about Donald Trump and his non-existent “Russia collusion” for two years, CNN is being forced to layoff workers at its London studios and cut programing.

CNN is cutting 90 minutes a day from programing that it produces in London and is replacing it with canned programing from the U.S.

Oh, what a great idea. Cutting London staff and production because of low ratings and substituting the air time with U.S. programing…. form its U.S. shows that are failing in the ratings.

According to Fox News:

CNN will cut 90 minutes of CNNi programming that is produced in London, replacing it with a simulcast of CNN’s ratings-challenged U.S. programming “for the time being,” according to the report.

TVNewser, which was started by CNN’s Brian Stelter, reported that “overall headcount will be unchanged” and “some of the London-based jobs will shift to Atlanta.” However, the decision to cut CNN’s London-based operation “is likely to result in dozens of employees losing their jobs,” according to The Guardian.

“It remains to be seen how many of the CNN staffers based in London will move to Atlanta with those jobs,” TVNewser’s A.J. Katz wrote.

Fox also noted that CNN has a “lot of empty desks in Atlanta,” too.

Several members of CNN’s Atlanta-based staff that covers health care found out last week they are getting pink slips despite the network recently calling mass layoffs a “crazy rumor.” The decision surprised many staffers who considered the health unit a successful department.

The surprise layoffs sparked a rumor that mass layoffs are coming soon.

CNN is disputing the claim… but bosses always say that just before mass layoffs, don’t they?

Regardless, CNN has been experiencing worse ratings with nearly every ratings cycle. CNN can’t even beat the gardening channel. And now the layoffs are starting.

Let’s hope that the king of fake news continues to experience crashing ratings and lost revenue. Few deserve it more.
