You read that headline right. In the last four years the federal government has thrown away $27 million of our tax dollars giving toys, food, toilet paper, and other free gifts to illegal aliens that we have deported back to their home countries.
“Illegal immigrants deported from the U.S. back to Central America are greeted back home with toilet paper, school supplies and Barbie doll-style toys, paid for by American taxpayers and designed to make reintegration easier,” the Washington Times reported.
In the last four years, the paper notes, the federal government has given $27 million to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to give freebies to illegals deported back to El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.
But, even with all these millions of our tax dollars thrown at the program, there is no accounting for any of it.
“USAID has not assessed the effectiveness of reintegration efforts conducted to date. Reintegration is a long-term process and many of the reintegration assistance programs are just beginning,” a new report by the Government Accountability Office says.
As the Times notes:
According to GAO statistics, Border Patrol agents caught about 200,000 illegal immigrants from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras in 2017, but deported just 75,000 people back to those countries — a removal rate of less than 38 percent.
Of those who were sent back, the U.S. has made a goal of trying to ease their path back into their home societies.
So, not only are we spending billions to catch and deport these criminal illegals, we are also funding centers back in their home countries to give them free gifts once they get back home.
Just what in the holy heck??
Naturally, Democrats want even more spending on this freebie program.
So, even if we do manage to get rid of these unwanted illegals, Democrats want to use our tax dollars to continue giving them welfare even when they are in some other country!
