Black Lives Matter morons are now demanding that the University of Florida get rid of its “gator bait” cheer because it is raaaaacist.
Of course, it isn’t and the black student who made it popular is slamming the fools calling the school sports chant “racist.”
For more than 20 years, students at FSU have been chanting the “gator bait” cheer at the school’s sporting events often led by the school marching band.
But now all of a sudden, the weakling, spineless dolts that run the school have banned the cheer because of its “history of racist imagery.”
This foolishness only came up this year as Black Lives Matter terrorists continue their attempt to destroy America.
Even though halfwit school President Kent Fuchs has banned the chant, even he says he’s never heard any claims that the cheer is “racist” until today.
“While I know of no evidence of racism associated with our ‘Gator Bait’ cheer at UF sporting events, there is horrific historic racist imagery associated with the phrase,” Fuchs said, ESPN reported. “Accordingly, University Athletics and the Gator Band will discontinue the use of the cheer.”
Now, it is a fact that there are some few newspaper articles from the early 1900s that claim that black babies were used as bait to lure alligators into capture. It is also true that a racist “joke” was once popular in the area that little black children were “gator bait.” But there is no evidence that this was in any way a common thing. In fact, there is no way to even tell if the ancient newspaper articles are of events that actually happened, or if they were the newspaper’s idea of humor, or are apocryphal.
But that aside, there is no connection with racism whatsoever to the cheer which is only 25 years old.
Take it from former student Lawrence Wright, a black man, who helped popularize the cheer back in the 1990s.
“Me and the president need to sit down and talk about this,” Wright complained to the Gainesville Sun
“I’m not going for it,” he added. “I created something for us. It’s a college football thing. It’s not a racist thing, It’s about us, the Gator Nation. And I’m Black.
“What about our history as the Gator Nation?” the former star cornerback asked. “We took a program from the top five to No. 1 in the country. I think I’ve done enough, put in the sweat and tears, to get to offer my opinion about something like this.”
Once again we see how disgusting and illegitimate this evil Black Lives Matter movement truly is.
