A Florida woman was arrested after police took two dozen pipe bombs in her room.
Michelle Louise Kolts, 27, was taken into custody on October 4 and charged with possessing the explosive devices, Fox News reported.
The sheriff’s office said that the pipe bombs were first reported to officials by the woman’s parents.
“I can only imagine how hard it is to call in about any family member,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chroniste said.
Police also discovered gun powder, knives, hatchets, nunchucks, BB guns and pellets, and printed materials and videos about mass murder and terrorism.
Investigators added that the suspect admitted to planning on using the bombs.
Still, the woman’s plans were vague, and no specific targets were revealed.
The police also said that they had already spoken to Kolts back in August of last year after they were alerted to her purchase of bomb-making guides.
Sheriff Chroniste added that it appeared that Kolts had become obsessed with the Columbine and Oklahoma killings.
“At that time [August 2018], she wasn’t diagnosed with any type of mental health diagnosis. She stated, at that time, her intentions were not to harm anyone. Her parents said she was a little on the autism spectrum,” Chroniste stated.
The sheriff praised the woman’s parents.
“Who knows the amount of harm that could’ve been done, had these parents not found the courage to call the sheriff’s office and seek help,” Chroniste said. “If you see something suspicious, please say something. They called 911 immediately.”
