CNN was shocked by their own Focus Group earlier this week, when they discovered that Trump voters are ecstatic with the job that their President is doing.
Apparently, hoping to find people who were tired of the President’s tweets, CNN instead discovered people who were tired of the media’s coverage of those tweets.
The focus group of Trump supporting Ohioans explained that while they might not love the things the President says, everything he’s done has been exactly as they hoped.
CNN’s Martin Savidge: We’re one year, one year in. How is he doing?
Male 1: Fantastic.
Male 2: Phenomenal.
Female 1: Better than I ever would have dreamt. And I mean that sincerely.
Female 1: Oh, yes.
Derek: Yes, I agree.
Female 2: Absolutely.
Derek: Yes, he’s doing wonderful. He’s staying on task.
The CNN’s Savidge wondered if the panel thought that the President was a racist for his lazer-focus on illegal immigration?
Savidge: How big an issue to all of you is immigration?
Male 1: Huge.
Female 1: Huge.
Male 2: Absolutely.
Savidge: In Youngstown, Ohio?
Male 2: Absolutely. And as far as I’m concerned, they’re stealing jobs of rightful citizens.
Savidge (voice-over): It is also about something else Trump voters say is important, rules and respect.
Female 2: I feel like when people come here illegally, that’s just very disrespectful. You don’t respect our laws and you shouldn’t be able to come here free-wheeling like that.
Savidge (voice-over): A year later, they all still want the wall. As for the president’s inflammatory tweets and speech, Gino says he used to cringe. Not anymore.
Savidge: So you don’t cringe anymore because you’ve grown numb to it or —
Gino: No, not numb at all but I know what he’s done and I’m starting to get an inkling why he uses Twitter in the way he does because if all he had to rely on is what people say about him, oh, my God, I might not like the guy. And I love the guy. I love the job he’s doing.
Savidge (voice-over): Justis met Trump at a rally and says he is not a racist.
Justis: He was just the nicest person and honestly, he could have — if he was a racist, as everyone paints him out to be, he could have just walked right past me and not even said a word.
Even when it came to the President’s tweets, which initially worried everyone on the panel, they now understood that he tweets because the media forces him to.
CNN just can’t seem to believe that anyone would still support the President… but it seems clear that most of his voters would vote for him again. In fact, he’s likely won more voters than he had before as a recent poll found his support among black Americans more than doubling!
