It’s the Founding Fathers’ Fault

President Obama finally found someone to blame for his Administration’s failed agenda who isn’t named Bush.

This time, Obama said his real “disadvantage” comes from that coterie of old, white men known as the Founding Fathers.

And dad-gum if they didn’t write the Constitution specifically to put “structural” obstacles in the way of Obama achieving his objectives. Specifically, the fact that each state has two senators despite population means Democrats have to keep tripping over those dastardly Republicans.

When it comes to keeping Democrats in power in the Senate and stealing back the House, “Obviously, the nature of the Senate means that California has the same number of Senate seats as Wyoming. That puts us at a disadvantage,” Obama told an audience of wealthy supporters in Chicago, one of those towns where Democrats have overcome their disadvantages to rise to the leadership and run everything into the ground.

The basic structure of the Senate was decided by the Founding Fathers in 1787. Because of differing views about whether the Legislative Branch of government should have representatives apportioned according to population or by state, the Founders compromised and created the House, with members apportioned by population, and the Senate, with two members per state.

The equal representation in the Senate is intended specifically to make sure that less populous states such as South Dakota or Rhode Island have a say in national lawmaking without fear of being bowled over by more populous states like New York.

Those more populous states also tend to lean Democrat, so it’s almost as if the Founding Fathers knew Obama was coming.

Or someone like him.

Obama acknowledged this demographic problem, noting that Democrats “tend to congregate a little more densely” in certain areas, like a flock of turkeys, or a pre-metastasized cancer.

He also said Democrats suffer from the “congenital disease” (see, that cancer crack wasn’t so far off) of not voting in midterm elections. Fortunately, most of them get over that problem after they die.

Clearly, there is a vast right-wing conspiracy at work; one that goes back to the nation’s beginnings.

So there are some structural reasons why, despite the fact that Republican ideas are largely rejected by the public, it’s still hard for us to break through,” Obama said.

Just a thought, but maybe it’s structurally difficult for Democrats to break through because the Founding Fathers intended for us to be a nation of laws, populated by people enjoying the fruits of individual liberty and responsibility, not a post-hippie Marxist gulag laboring under the collective delusions of the Left and ruled over by a tyrant pursuing his monomaniacal vision of a Muslim world government.

Like I said, just a thought.
