GOP Congressman’s Siblings Slam Him in Ad for Democrat Opponent, Mom Criticizes Them

Six of Republican congressman Paul Gosar’s brothers and sisters slammed him in a video ad for his Democrat opponent, but the congressman may have gotten the last laugh when his mom came out on his side and criticized her six children for their ignorant act.

Gosar, an Arizona congressman, is running for re-election, but his opponent got a boost from the congressman’s own siblings.

The brothers and sisters — Tim, Jennifer, Gaston, Joan, Grace and David — appeared in campaign advertisements for David Brill, the Democrat hoping to unseat Gosar in Arizona’s 4th Congressional District in the midterm election.

The Gosar siblings framed their endorsement of Brill as a matter of values, saying their brother, who has long drawn headlines for his far-right views, and his politics were simply too much for them to stomach.

“We gotta stand up for our good name,” David Gosar said in the advertisement. “This is not who we are.”

“I couldn’t be quiet any longer, nor should any of us be,” Grace Gosar said.

“I think my brother has traded a lot of the values we had at our kitchen table,” said another sister, Joan.

The congressman struck back calling his Democrat siblings “disgruntled Hillary supporters.”

“These disgruntled Hillary supporters are related by blood to me but like leftists everywhere, they put political ideology before family,” Gosar tweeted, adding the hashtag #MAGA2018 for the Trump campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

It should be noted that none of these six siblings even live in Arizona even though they claim to be speaking for the people of the Copper State.

But it appears that the congressman got the last laugh, in any case, when the family matriarch came out on his side.

As The New York Times reported:

Reached at her home in Wyoming, Bernadette Gosar, the siblings’ 85-year-old mother, said that she was unaware of the videos until she was contacted by The New York Times. Once they were described to her in detail, she said she was “shocked” and “crushed.”

She said she had a “wonderful family” but that the Gosar children in the videos did not relate politically to Paul Gosar or herself. She said from what she knew about Dr. Brill, “He doesn’t have a chance.”

“I share the same philosophy and policies that Paul does,” she said. “He’s done a hell of a job for Arizona, and they love him.”

The congressman had the better zinger:

Yep looks like he won that argument.
