As if these editors have ever actually read, considered, or thought upon the Bible for any length of time!
There’s simply no way that anyone who has ever read the Bible, particularly if they’ve read it cover-to-cover, would ever call it anything other than one of the greatest works of literature of all time.
There is a reason that it is the best-selling book of all time, and continues to top the charts year after year after year. It’s not only that the Bible is a sacred religious text for a little over a billion people, it’s that the Bible contains some of the greatest poetry, narrative, history, and philosophy ever written. And it’s all in one book!
Let’s be honest here – GQ Magazine’s editors have never read the Bible, and they have an axe to grind against Judeo-Christianity.
GQ magazine published an article last week entitled, “21 Books You Don’t Have To Read” and listed The Bible at number 12, calling it “repetitive” and “foolish.”
“The Holy Bible is rated very highly by all the people who supposedly live by it but who in actuality have not read it,” the article reads “Those who have read it know there are some good parts, but overall it is certainly not the finest thing that man has ever produced. It is repetitive, self-contradictory, sententious, foolish, and even at times ill-intentioned.”
GQ suggested reading “The Notebook” by Agota Kirstof about two young brothers living in WWII Europe instead.
“If the thing you heard was good about the Bible was the nasty bits, then I propose Agota Kristof’s The Notebook,” the GQ editors wrote. “A marvelous tale of two brothers who have to get along when things get rough. The subtlety and cruelty of this story is like that famous sword stroke (from below the boat) that plunged upward through the bowels, the lungs, and the throat and into the brain of the rower.”
