Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) stepped down as judiciary chair, likely leaving Trump ally Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) in charge.
Grassley announced that he’ll leave his chairmanship to lead the Senate Finance Committee. The move paves the way for Sen. Graham to take over the Judiciary Committee in January, which would make him President Trump’s point person on judges.
“Looking ahead, at the Finance Committee, I want to continue to work to make sure that as many Americans as possible get to experience this good economy for themselves.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) is poised to lead the Senate Judiciary Committee after Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) announced he is stepping aside from that role to become chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.
Graham would oversee judicial confirmations if he becomes Judiciary Committee chairman. Grassley said he would work for more tax relief as Finance Committee chairman, the Associated Press reports.
Graham said in September he would remember how Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation process played out if he was to become committee chairman.
“If I am chairman next year, if we keep the majority and Senator Grassley (R., Iowa) moves over–and I hope he doesn’t because I think he’s done a great job–I’m going to remember this,” Graham said. More
If I am fortunate enough to be selected by my colleagues to serve as Chairman, I will push for the appointment and Senate confirmation of highly qualified conservative judges to the federal bench and aggressive oversight of the Department of Justice and FBI. https://t.co/aGu4bXX1Hq

Congratulations Lindsey Graham I really hope you get it because you’re the best man for the job. He definitely earned this distinction during the Kavanaugh confirmation.
Liberals flip out on Twitter:
Do NOT choose this lunatic. @LindseyGrahamSC you showed your true colors with your two-year old temper tantrum. Step aside and let an adult take this position for the sake of our country.

Isn’t the Senate also tasked to provide aggressive oversight of the Executive Branch?
I guess it’s really hard to perform OVER sight, when you spend so much time buried in the President’s UNDER parts.— ilgattomorte (@ilgattomorte) November 16, 2018
How does it feel to be about the fourth most hated person in the United States right about now, Lindsey?

This would be entirely disasterous for the country. You are a partisan hack.

Enjoy it Miss Graham because in 2020 you are done screwing this nation! I’m hoping the house starts investigating you and turtle neck @senatemajldr and send you both to prison!

Let us pause, to thank all the dumbest people on the planet who voted Republican, or didn’t vote at all, for this.
