A black-owned business in Tennessee was outraged when “racists” carved “white pride” into the sidewalk outside the store. But the “hate crime” fell apart when a black woman was later arrested for the crime.
Business owner Derrick Carson was furious when “white racists” defaced the sidewalk in front of his Johnson City, Tennessee, fitness gym. He immediately began waving his arms about “racists” and called the graffiti a “hate crime.”
“It hit me in the heart more than anything,” Carson told WCYB.
He said that the attack on his business happened on March 2 and reported it to police.
Carson also began trying to milk the incident for what he might get out of it. He ever ended up with $1,500 from a GoFundMe page.
He also tried to appear as the pious, even tempered victim on TV saying, “I started to lose some of the anger and some of the hurt, and then it kind of went out the person like, ‘What would have them out this early in the morning in the cold to where they were disheveled enough to want to scribble in front of my door?”
One of his employees, Kendra Scott, thanked the community for coming together to support him for being a victim of this vicious hate crime.
Then it all fell apart.
A few days later, the local police announced that it had surveillance video of one Mahagany Teague, 41, committing this “hate crime.”
The officers arrested Teague, and then published some photos of the suspect. That is when the “hate crime” proclamations fell a bit flat:
That is quite a “white supremacist,” there, isn’t it?
The police have not revealed a motive.
