President Barack Obama, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius and Rep. Nancy Pelosi have continued to tell the American people that the Affordable Care Act is lowering the cost of health insurance nationwide. The problem is their nation must consist of New York and California because most of the rest of the nation are finding that prices are jumping significantly. In some states, those increases amount to hundreds of dollars more a month.
Sebelius and Obama have been traveling the country trying to convince Americans that Obamacare is a great thing and they should enroll now. Listening to them peddle a disastrous program to unsuspecting people reminds me of the old snake oil peddlers that sold elixirs that promised everything but did nothing but drain the pocketbook.
On a recent visit to Florida, Sebelius was asked about the rising cost of healthcare through Obamacare. At first I thought she was actually going to admit it and I asked my heart to be still that she would finally tell the truth. But alas, being a good Obama disciple, she was unable to admit to the plain truth.
A Florida news anchor asked her:
“More back tracking now from the Obama administration admitting that some Americans will pay more for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. During a visit to Miami, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius stopped at a local library to talk to local residents about enrolling on the health insurance website. She also acknowledged that some people will pay higher premiums under Obamacare.”
“There are some individuals who may be looking at increases. I think you cannot make a statement based on cost unless you compare what they had to what they’re going into.”
What part of the word ‘increase’ doesn’t she understand? If they had nothing to compare it to, then there is no way purchasing a plan would be an increase over an existing plan. I haven’t heard how much of an average increase Florida residents are seeing but the increases in many parts of the nation are running anywhere from 7% to over 70%.
Perhaps Sebelius should stop in Ohio and try to convince them that costs aren’t going up that much. One report I read said that the average family of four in Ohio currently pays an average of about $300 per month for health insurance. Under the Obamacare exchange programs, that same family of four is projected to pay out around $510 per month for the same coverage. That’s a 70% increase that will remove an additional $2,520 a year from the family bank accounts.
One report, which comes from the experts working for Medicare’s actuary says that over the first ten years, Obamacare will increase health related spending for all Americans by $621 billion. Chris Conover, a contributor to Forbes, took the year by year cost increases attributed to the Affordable Care Act, divided it by the projected US population for each year to determine the added cost per person. Then he multiplied that amount by four to represent a typical family and how much additional cost Obamacare will amount to. His figure over the next ten years was $7,450.
Sebelius almost told a partial truth, which in and of itself is shocking. It’s just like the answer Sebelius gave to another Florida journalist who asked her about the biggest lie of the year being Obama telling the nation that they could keep their existing policies. Sebelius could have won Dancing with the Stars with the two step she did to avoid answering the question.
It doesn’t matter that there are mountains of evidence to prove that Obama, Sebelius and Pelosi were and still are lying to us and I doubt that they will ever admit the truth about their lies. What’s more, I believe that those lies were deliberate in order to convince the American people to drink their Kool-Aid.
