Horror in South Florida: School Shooting Kills at Least 17

A high school in Florida is on lockdown this afternoon after a gunman opened fire, possibly victimizing dozens of students.

The incident is still ongoing, making information somewhat scarce at this early hour, but it is believed that a possible former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School near Parkland, Florida entered the school just before dismissal for the day and opened fire.

Authorities have said that there are “several” injured, but no official estimate has been released.  Some news sources are reporting that between 20-50 victims could exist.

Furthermore, according to the latest reports, the gunman has not been apprehended or incapacitated, and an enormous manhunt is under way.

The FBI, ATF, and Coast Guard are all involved in the ongoing situation.

Twitter has hosted a number of reactions to the shooting already under the hashtag “#StonemanShooting”, many of which were predictable, knee jerk, liberal drivel.

We must remember that the facts of this particular case are not yet known, and these anti-Constitutional reactions are premature at best, anti-American at worst.

If anything, this incident could call for an increase in armed security at our nation’s schools to prevent such senseless crimes from occurring to these “sitting duck” students who were trapped in a “gun free” zone.

A former student unleashed a hail of gunfire in a Florida high school on Wednesday, killing at least 17 adults and children, authorities said.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott ordered government flags flown at half-staff through Monday in honor of victims of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, a public school of some 3,000 students outside Boca Raton…

“This has been a day where we’ve seen the worst of humanity. Tomorrow is gonna bring out the best in humanity as we come together to move forward from this unspeakable tragedy,” he said.
The suspect, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, was expelled for unspecified disciplinary reasons, Runcie said. He is due in court Thursday.

The shooting, which is among the 10 deadliest mass shootings in modern US history, revived debate over gun control while American politicians offered their condolences.
“My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school,” US President Donald Trump said.
