How To Turn Anti-Gun Arguments Against Gun Control Supporters

It’s time loyal Americans call out Barack Obama and his liberal disciples on their anti-gun crusade. They claim that we need more gun control laws to help prevent gun violence in the US. One of their main points is the need for universal background checks for everyone wanting to purchase a firearm, own a firearm or receiving a firearm as a gift. Supposedly this will help the government prevent the wrong people from obtaining a gun thus reducing the amount of gun violence in the US.

I’ve written many times about how the cities, states and even other countries that have the strictest gun control laws or bans have the highest incidence of gun violence and murders. If you don’t believe me then just take a look at the amount of gun violence in Chicago, Baltimore and New York. When Australia banned most gun ownership, the crime rates involving guns skyrocketed because homeowners no longer had the means to protect themselves so the criminals went on a spree.

Obama and his disciples completely ignore the facts and generally create their own, so let’s look at their argument from another angle – logic.

If they are telling the truth and the real reason for their anti-Second Amendment agenda is to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by guns, then they should be more concerned about the number of deaths and injuries caused by motor vehicles.

According to the anti-gun website, approximately 108,000 Americans are shot each year resulting in 32,514 deaths. However, they do point out that over half of all gun deaths – 19,992 are due to suicide.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over 2.3 million people were injured in motor vehicle accidents resulting in 32,675 killed in 2014. There were 9,967 vehicular fatalities that were the result of drivers having a blood alcohol level of 0.08 g/dl or higher. For the first half of 2015, they report 16,225 vehicular deaths.

While the fatality rates may be nearly equal, the number of people injured due to motor vehicles is 21.3 to every person injured by a gun. People regularly use their vehicles as weapons, running into and over people as well as driving them into buildings to gain access so they can rob the business inside. Many child molesters use their vehicle to patrol for young victims to be whisked away and never seen alive again.

Therefore, if universal background checks for firearms are truly intended to reduce gun violence, then the same logic dictates that universal background checks need to be used to screen for people applying for driver’s licenses and those trying to buy a vehicle, new or used. They need to screen for people with a history of sexual crimes, driving while under the influence and multiple traffic offenses and prevent them from obtaining a driver’s license or purchasing a motor vehicle.

But we all know that will never happen because reducing gun violence isn’t the real reason for Obama’s actions. The real reason is that he wants to know who has how many guns and then push to systematically take all of our guns away. Having a defenseless citizenry makes it all the more easy for a socialist takeover of America.

So please, the next time you have the chance to talk or correspond with a gun hating Obamanite, use the argument about vehicular deaths and injuries to show the illogical basis of their argument. I’ve tried it and it leaves them speechless and nothing to stand on.
