A black woman faces bias crime charges in Portland after attacking a white woman at a bus stop on Jan. 19.
Nimo Jire Kalinle, 42, had exited a bus at North Fremont Street and Gantenbein Avenue when she suddenly began punching a woman repeatedly in the face, court papers say, according to OregonLive.
The victim, Janae Jordan, told police that Kalinle yelled that she “hates white people” during the attack.
“It’s because you’re white and I hate white people,” Kalinle reportedly yelled.
Kalinle was indicted on charges of first-degree bias crime, fourth-degree assault, and interfering with public transportation.
The accused ditched her Feb. 5 court date and a bench warrant was then issues for her arrest.
Police finally arrested Kalinle on Feb. 23 and booked her into the Multnomah County jail on charges of suspicion of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct in a separate incident.
The accused will be arraigned next week.
Naturally, Kalinle has a long criminal record and recently faced charges of throwing rocks and damaging several TriMet bus shelters.
It isn’t likely you have heard of this story, granted.
After all, it is not about a white person saying, “I hate black people.”
If it had been a white woman saying she hates blacks this story would have been national news.
