IRS Scandal Supervisor On Paid Leave Past 4 Months Now Retires Prior To Being Fired

Back in May the IRS scandal broke when it was learned that IRS employees had been instructed to target tea party and patriotic groups seeking non-profit status.  The practice began during the 2010 elections and continued into this year.  Some groups seeking non-profit status were asked for personal information of their people and their supporters.  Some were told to stop certain practices in order to qualify.  Many saw the process take up to 3 years to obtain their non-profit tax status.

From the onset, IRS supervisor Lois Lerner became the target of the scandal as she was in charge of the division that targeted the conservative groups.  Once Lerner was placed in the spotlight, she was placed on paid administrative leave.  Considering the fact that Lerner, an attorney, had worked for the federal government for 30 years and the IRS since 2001, you know that she was making a pretty hefty salary, well over $120,000 per year.  That means for the past four months, she’s been making at least $10,000 per month to not work.  I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t mind being paid ten grand a month to not work.

However, I don’t see Lerner as being the target of the IRS scandal as much as I see her as the scapegoat for IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman and President Barack Obama.  According to publicly released records, IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman visited the White House more than any other member of Obama’s Cabinet.  In hearings before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, it was made known that 118 of Shulman’s 157 White House visits were made during the period that IRS agents were intentionally targeting tea party and conservatives.  In fact, he visited the White House more times than the combined visits of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano.

Next Shulman’s 157 White House visits, was acting Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank with only 86 visits.   Shulman knew about the illegal targeting at least 5 months before the November election and made over 100 White House visits during the times the targeting was occurring.  Now we are supposed to believe that Obama knew nothing about the scandal until just recently?  This is why the American people have no respect or trust in our government leaders, especially in Obama, our Liar in Chief!

Yet, Lerner is made out to be the scapegoat for them, but I don’t think it is going to hurt her that much financially.  This week, Lois Lerner, 62, suddenly retired on Monday effective immediately.  There has been a lot of talk on Capitol Hill asking for Lerner to be fired for her role in the scandal.  All indications were pointing to her being fired in the very near future.  By her retiring suddenly, she will still be eligible to receive her federal pension from 30 years as a federal employee.   That means that she will walk away scott free with a very healthy pension that you and I will be paying.

Lerner’s sudden departure does not mean that the investigation by House Oversight Committee will go away, as some had hoped it would.  They dangled Lerner out there as the scapegoat, but Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is not taking the bait and stated:

“Her departure does not answer these questions or diminish the committee’s interest in hearing her testimony,”

Sen. Orin Hatch (R-UT) is the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee also commented about Lerner’s retirement and the investigation of the IRS scandal, saying:

“[Lerner’s retirement] does not mean the investigation is over.”

“Far from it.  In fact, there are many serious unanswered questions that must be addressed so we can get to the truth.”

I hope they do continue the investigation all the way to Douglas Shulman and Barack Obama.  I am firmly convinced that Obama orchestrated the targeting in conjunction with the inroads made by Republicans in 2010 and their regaining the House of Representatives.  Obama hatched the plan and instructed Shulman to carry it out.  Shulman then turned to Lerner and her division to do their dirty work.  Now they have laid all the blame on her, and it seems that she is graciously accepting the role they gave her.  Most likely she is being well compensated with taxpayer money for dong their bidding and I hope and pray that Issa will find evidence to prove me right and use it to bring down America’s most infamous tyrannical and corrupt president.
