Jesse ‘Hymietown’ Jackson Plays the Race Card

Donations and corporate shakedowns must be at an all time low at Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition offices. He’s back in the news looking for the spotlight so he can rev up black discontent and outrage because of what some white guy said about his perceptions of what it was like growing up in Louisiana in the 1950s.

Phil Robertson, the Duck Commander on Duck Dynasty made the following comments in his GQ Magazine interview:

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person… The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them,” Robertson said. ‘I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field…. They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!”

Well, this outraged Jesse Jackson, you know, the same guy who called New York City “Hymietown” because there are a lot of Jews in New York City. Because many Jews are prosperous, it’s their prosperity that must be one of the reasons blacks aren’t doing well.

Here’s how Larry J. Sabato described Jackson’s 1984 comments:

“Rev. Jesse Jackson referred to Jews as ‘Hymies’ and to New York City as ‘Hymietown’ in January 1984 during a conversation with a black Washington Post reporter, Milton Coleman. Jackson had assumed the references would not be printed because of his racial bond with Coleman, but several weeks later Coleman permitted the slurs to be included far down in an article by another Post reporter on Jackson’s rocky relations with American Jews.”

Compare Robertson’s comments to Jackson’s and Jackson’s refusal to denounce similar comments made by black anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan.

Robertson was recalling his recollections of his growing up years. He did not say a derogatory thing about blacks. He stated how he worked with blacks and noted that he and they were in the same economic condition.

So Jackson turns a person’s recollection into a new form of racism – white privilege. Here are Jackson’s comments:

“These statements uttered by Robertson are more offensive than the bus driver in Montgomery, Alabama, more than 59 years ago,” Jackson said in a statement. “At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law. Robertson’s statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was ‘white privilege.’”

“White privilege”? Robertson stated that he was as poor as the blacks he worked with.

Jackson wants to meet with A&E and Cracker Barrel over the “racist” recollections of the Duck Dad. In a statement, Jackson stated, “We are requesting a sit down meeting with the CEO of Cracker Barrel and A&E in the next 72 hours to discuss our position.”

I’ll bet you a plate of chicken and dumplings at Cracker Barrel (my favorite) that nothing comes of this. Thankfully, Jackson’s day has come and gone. The question is, will blacks see what’s happened to them because of people like Jackson and the Democrat Party?
